RAPPORT

D'Impact

2025

In 2025, GERP delivered measurable conservation success in Madagascar. Lemur populations in Maromizaha rose by up to 45%, while the forest stayed fire-free since 2018 through community collaboration. Forest loss dropped sharply in Mahadrodroka, women led restoration in Manombo, and our Lemur Portal earned Tech4Nature finalist status.

Science, commitment, and local partnerships reverse biodiversity loss. From lemur recovery to inclusive models, GERP proves impact on the ground, built to last.

"Lasting conservation needs science and communities together. These results are proof."

2024

GERP protects Madagascar's biodiversity across key sites:

Maromizaha (2,150 ha east, IUCN Category VI since 2017), home to 12 lemur species (3 critically endangered), 400+ plants (77% endemic), and 84 birds, achieving zero fires since 2018 via 1,920 community patrols (2,900+ km);

Manombo (southeast), where women lead forest restoration, embroidery income, and nursery work to cut pressures and regenerate habitats; and Mahadrodroka (34,700 ha northwest), with 3 new VOIs safeguarding critically endangered lemurs while treating 300 villagers, educating 10,000, and reducing bushfires.

Overall impacts include 6,000+ trees planted, 10 beekeepers trained, SMART/GPS on 100% patrols, proving over 30 years that science + communities deliver lasting protection.
